On August 27 Indy CLT hosted a Ground Lease Orientation. This information session digs into the rights and responsibilities of Community Land Trust Homeowners and explains the Ground lease and other policies of the Indianapolis Community Land Trust.

On August 29 the Indianapolis Community Land Trust held an info session on how discount sales and property donations and tax benefits work and many different estate planning options to help leave a legacy of permanently affordable housing. Training was led by Jeff Washburne of Burlington Associates. Jeff served as the executive director of City of Lake Community Land Trust for 20 years. Indy CLT's attorneys also answered tax, estate and other legal questions.

Historically, there were many homes available for first-time homebuyers. This is no longer the case, and households with lower incomes are being forced to continue paying increasing rents in oftentimes substandard housing. Now, there’s another option – purchasing a home through the Indianapolis Community Land Trust (ICLT), being launched by Kheprw Institute (kheprw.org) with support from the City of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis African American Quality of Life Initiative. ICLT discussed how a CLT works, reviewed Indianapolis CLT eligibility, and allowed the audience to provide feedback on the concept for community effectiveness.
